THE SOLUTION

ARCAD-Deliver provides high level IBM i Deployment features that allow IT operations to Secure them and have High productivity in IBM components deployment.

We have 3 concept that Operators will use:

1. Sets of components
2. Processes to run
3. Target to deliver

For target, we use Site (machine/lpar) and Environment (Libraries, iASP) to manage physical location, but we also have Static of Dynamic group of Environment that allow to have easy use when you need to deliver to multiple targets in one process.   

We provide out of the box processes to deliver over the network set of components to Site, Environments and/or group. Typical delivery process is done in 3 step :

1. Packaging (prepare components to deploy and needed personalized processes to do)
2. Transfer (network, CD, Tape)
3. Install (may be automated, scheduled thru your in place scheduler)

All these steps may have individual trigger that may depend of the sources/targets or any external requirement.

The starting point is a set of components: the release to deliver. It could come from versioning generated by ARCAD-Skipper or ARCAD-Integrater. 

To do a delivery the operator will have the list of release to deliver as en entry, he will select them (from 5250 native interface or from the Graphical user interface based on eclipse) and will apply a process to them for a target. 

THE ADVANTAGES

ARCAD-Deliver with only 3 concepts to manage is easy to use and allow real productivity gain.

For example, the dynamic group management allows to have grouping of environment based on selection rules instead of hard defined link. This make we have auto-configuration.

Processes divided in sub processes all customizable allow us to reach the 100% automation goal. It allows for operator to really well control and trace each processes.

Target item embed comportment properties that interact with processes that allow easy configuration and avoid multiplying processes definition that facilitate the maintenance.

In the low level function, ARCAD-deliver benefit of the backbone ARCAD technology like Regression check management, production attribute management (filesize, …), Authority/right management, Rollback facilities.
