Rational Team Concert Extension

ARCAD Software has uses similar to Rational products: providing tools for all phases of the application change cycle, with the goal of automating processes. The Rational products were initially created for the aerospace industry, as was ARCAD, which was founded in 1988 at the Kourou base in French Guyana (home of the Ariane project).  This similarity in background led us to examine the complementary nature of our respective product lines. In late 2010 a new bridge was creating between the IBM Rational RTC tool and ARCAD’s deployment offering. Thanks to this development, we have earned “Ready for Rational” validation and are officially listed as an IBM technological partner.

THE SOLUTION

ARCAD-Deliver Extension For Rational Team Concert allows Rational Team Concert users to call ARCAD-Deliver, the ARCAD Software Release Management System, as a Post Build Process to manage the built artifacts in order to release them from one single production box to multiple production environments.

ARCAD-Deliver offers full deployment capabilities. It covers simple needs like a transfer to one single production box, and more complex configurations containing multiple production environments, as well as ISV particular needs. ARCAD-Deliver Extension for Rational Team Concert allows Rational Team Concert users to call it as a Post Build Process to manage the built artifacts in order to release them to production boxes.

THE FEATURES

Our extension provides:

• An extension for the IBM i Jazz Build System to integrate the built objects into ARCAD-Deliver in order to release  them on production environments,
• A Build Definition Template that extends the IBM i Build Specification - Jazz Build Engine to easily create a build process that automatically calls the ARCAD-Deliver post build process,
• A friendly user interface to configure the few post build process parameters fully integrated into the Rational Team Concert environment,
• Significant contributions to the build results (detailed activities, log files and summary contributor) to have all the information at the same place.

THE ADVANTAGES

ARCAD-Deliver Extension For Rational Team Concert allows users to use Rational Team Concert to manage their development and, at the same time, to benefit from the powerful deployment capabilities found in ARCAD-Deliver.
The content of the releases to deploy is automatically derived from the list of artifacts built by Rational Team Concert Jazz Build System, in a single process. Its high level integration gives users total control on the execution and results of the ARCAD-Deliver integration, directly from the Rational Team Concert user interface.
