Data Modelling Tools Connectors

ARCAD-Observer is a very powerfull tool to understand and document an IBM I database (see “the Database diagram” page for more information). Its real value is that it analyses the links between fields by getting down into the programs themselves.

All of those links can then be exported in the standard DDL format. This “Data definition Language” can be read by most of the data modeling tools on the market, like Rational Software Architect or Power AMC.

This means that, once your IBM I database has been analyzed by ARCAD and exported in DDL format, you can re-engineer it using one of those tools.
