ILE & SQL Cross References

Using ILE and SQL is becoming a real standard in the IBM I world. Of course, the use of these techniques has generated the need for additional cross reference information that isn't available in standard cross reference tools. That’s why ARCAD performs additional analysis of your database and finds and records these dependencies. ARCAD has over 10 years experience in identifying all dependencies, regardless of platform, that you need to maintain your applications.

For applications with embedded SQL and/or DB2/UDB databases, ARCAD-Observer
provides cross-references:

• For use of files (and their fields) via SQL from SQLRPG(LE), SQLCBL(LE), and from IFS source (Java, PHP, C#, etc.) .when they access databases on an IBM i
• From system-type triggers to called programs
• From stored procedures and system functions to called programs
• Between tables with referential constraints
• Between SQL source code for tables, stored procedures, and functions to used files and stored procedures/called functions.

For applications using the ILE environment ARCAD-Observer provides:

• Cross reference information at the procedure level: This allows the visualization of calling chains (caller/called) by procedure, as well as with OPM programs.
• For each procedure, you can visualize the location of its definition (source code), its declaration (prototype), its execution object (program or service program), its activation group, and all of its uses (calls).
