Rational Developer for Power is the new development environment for developers that work on IBM Power systems. It is a modern environment with powerful features that help increase productivity and give the platform a more youthful image among young developers. Thanks to RD for Power, IBM provides an up-to-the-minute development environment, able to keep young developers happy and even attract new users. In addition to being a high-performance tool, it is a tool with all the advantages of a convergence of cultures. Its major advances in terms of interface make it essential for ILE work due to the innovative structure view and the possibility of being able to work with several source code members simultaneously. As well as the copy/paste functions and the functions that genuinely facilitate the readability of the source code.

THE ARCAD-SKIPPER – RDP integration (features)

ARCAD Software has developed an entire range of innovative functions based on this environment, which increase developer productivity even further.

Automatic recompile systems

Every time you compile a file, ARCAD saves its data and retrieves it later.
ARCAD then automatically compiles the related logical files.
It keeps a list of the programs to be recompiled according to your dependencies (files, COPY clauses, ILE) and allows bulk recompilation of this list.

Simplified ILE environment and SQL component management

Thanks to ARCAD’s powerful ILE environment management functions, you can painlessly enhance the modularity and reusability of your code. ARCAD provides:
• A procedure repository
• Continual control of the consistency of parameter-passing between procedures and between programs
• Automatic management of signatures and bound directories
• Automatic ordering of recompiles
ARCAD offers similar functions for SQL component management:
• Management of creation scripts
• Trigger/program cross-references
• Automatic ordering of recompiles

THE ARCAD-SKIPPER – RDP integration (licenses)

Since 2010, ARCAD Software has established a new partnership with IBM. RDP is now considered as part of the ARCAD-Skipper developer license. This means that:

• You have to deal with only one technical support, instead of two,
• ARCAD guarantees compatibility between versions of RDP and its related plug-ins,
• ARCAD Software provides dedicated training that combines the features of RDP used throughout the Arcad perspective.
