THE ISSUE... |
|
Within an organization, different users may have access to Software Configuration Management (SCM) functions. Any efficient organization is based on a clear division of roles and responsibilities for each member. It is possible to do this in procedure format, but a tool provides a huge advantage in the areas of transparency and security.

THE ARCAD SOLUTION ...
ARCAD-Skipper is positioned as a coordinator for development, production, and technical support services.
With ARCAD-Skipper, you can define a clear and precise assignment of roles and responsibilities for all users. You can verify and trace everyone’s access to each of their assigned functions, and organize the entire process of circulating information between associates.
|
HOW...
Run OS/400 user profiles through ARCAD-Skipper to define precise responsibilities for everybody in an organization (developers, project managers, database administrators, acceptance testers, librarians). Whether your group has teams for Unix, Windows or Linux, your first step is to define OS/400 profiles.
Each of these people is assigned particular actions, which will be managed by the product. For example, the librarian cannot transfer to production until all acceptance testers have validated the version.
A messaging system alerts the people concerned about changes at each phase of the project. Workflow is also ensured for the designated end user through the request management module integrated into the ARCAD solution. Each user can be alerted individually when his request is made available.
These messages can be sent via the OS/400 or an SMTP messaging system. Of course, the system is compatible with products such as Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes. It is extremely simple to configure. |
