How it works...

ARCAD Software’s challenge was to find a way to gather critical data and/or configuration changes performed on an environment, and then automatically transfer these data changes to production.  

The operating principles are very similar to those for component management. First, all critical data changes you wish to monitor must be defined and then placed in the central ARCAD core. You define one or more test environments that contain part or all of the production data. Changes to critical data in the test environment are thoroughly traced using trigger technology.

The allocation process for DCM “Data Configuration Management” is performed automatically as changes are made, allowing you to resolve potential conflicts in the updates. With this system, several critical data changes can be made simultaneously in different data sets.  

Next, we consider procedures for transfers to test, and then deployment. Automating these processes provides productivity and security. There is no need for manual re-entry, and data is transported simultaneously with components and processed synchronously. The same procedures provide rollback functions in case of an error.

Data compare utilities ensure security. ARCAD-Datachanger includes a source comparison function to resolve potential source conflicts and a data comparison tool. The data comparison tool is used in the final phase to ensure the traceability of changes and resolve conflicts between two current versions, and in the deployment phase to arbitrate between distributed and local data as needed.
