In 2010 information systems will experience greater technological diversity than ever before. This diversification in technology increases demands on technical knowledge and introduces team members of varying backgrounds. A combination of human and technological diversity increases complexity in project and team management and can impact the stability of information systems.
At ARCAD, we've always been very sensitive to the phenomenon of heterogeneous technologies and the need to blend cultures new and old. We quickly realized that the differences were so great that the best strategy was not adopt a rigid dogmatic position, but instead one that aimed to respect everyone's style of work. It is this approach that has guided the creation of the new IOS module of our ARCAD-Skipper SCM suite.
Integrater for Open System or IOS is the newest addition to the ARCAD family and it allows Skipper to synchronize with all source code tools in the marketplace—CVS, Subversion, Microsoft Visual Source Safe, and Rational Clearcase are a few examples.

With IOS, ARCAD Skipper can retrieve all types of heterogeneous components. It ensures and maintains a single unified view of application assets. It continues by ensuring the deployment of generated code into production. Thus, each development team can choose the version control tool that best fits their needs while taking advantage of a single common process to ensure a perfectly synchronized deployment. In this automation and secure multi-platform deployment ARCAD really comes into its own. It imposes a common methodology conducive to solving many problems related to the diversity as we previously discussed.
An approach based on openness and sharing is at the heart of the ARCAD Software strategy. It’s the ability to reconcile young and old development styles in creating a common technology base and a unifying methodology.
Most likely you already take advantage of all these technologies that ARCAD has developed for you. But I hope that in this newsletter you’ll learn some new uses of ARCAD Technology. In this edition, you will find an example of how our customer Groupe Chèque Déjeuner helped to move IOS from dream to reality and and how they are successfully using ARCAD along with many different technologies. We’d like to pass along our great gratitude to Mr. Amrein for his active contribution in both the evolution of this technology as well as his involvement in this customer success story.
